Ego and Self

The “Ego” refers to the “little self”.

The “Self” refers to the “Higher Self” or “Real Self”.

So don’t confuse these two words.

Nature Of The Self

The Self has All.

It needs nothing

It has no desires.

It is effortless.

Nature Of The Ego

The Ego lacks All.

It needs fulfillment

It needs approval.

It takes efforts.

Good Desires

The desire to let go of Ego, instead of, the desire to “get out of misery”

The desire to know the Self

The desire to find joy internally

Mechanism Of Ego, Lack, Desire

We don’t know the Self, so we assume we are the Ego

The Ego uses the mind to artificially create a lack (e.g. I need this person. I need this thing. I need approval from this person. Etc.)

The mind start thinking: I have a desire to relieve this lack (e.g. If I fulfill my desire, I will be happy.)

The mind figures out and start doing everything to undo the lack (e.g. I will have to do this, to do that, etc., to get my desire fulfilled.)

After the lack is undone, the Ego feel happy (e.g. I get this thing. I get approval from this person. I will be happy.)

Then, the Ego temporary calm down, and return back to its source

Say It Another Way…

The Ego creates Thought of Lack

Thought of Lack raise up Desire to Fulfill

Desire to Fulfill leads to Action to Get it

After Got it, Desire is fulfilled, Thought of Lack is relieved, Ego returns back to the Self

Then, we call it Happiness
