What is a deadline?
Deadline is just a date set for you to finish your work. Even you are a student, manager or officer, deadline is not your enemy. It can be a good friend if you honor it.
Here are some checkup questions about your experience with deadline?
- When you were in primary or secondary school, did you do the homework at the last moment?
- And in high school, college, and graduated school, did you wait and do the homework at last moment?
- In your everyday activities, did you wait until the last minute to do thing?
- In your work, did you wait until a deadline on top of you, before you get moving?
For most school children, students, and people, they would wait until the last minutes before they did their work, no matter how much time they were allowed. This habit keeps reinforcing through many years of schooling, and it also affect them later on life.
What can we do about this?
1. Set a deadline for each project/work.
2. Honor the deadline.
Here are some tips about setting a deadline for your project.
- Know when the project is due.
- Think of who will work on it after you finish that project.
- Think of when you can be free to start a new project.
If you honor your deadline, you will be likely to get thing done, without the rush feeling or fear of being late.
